Jamie Schaafsma Announces He Will Play Elsewhere Next Season

The Allen Americans will have a new captain next season.
Jamie Schaafsma announced on Twitter Sunday evening that he will not play in Americans red next season:

I want to thank everyone in Allen for an amazing 3 years! Met a lot of great people, and played with a lot of great players! #undefeated

Schaafsma was part of three straight Allen Americans championships — and captained the Americans to their first Kelly Cup championship in June. Prior to joining Allen, Schaafsma played for the league title in four straight years.
For his career in Allen, Schaafsma played in 199 regular season games, scored 62 goals, tallied 89 assists for a total of 151 points. He seemed to step his game up when the lights shined brightest though, collecting 48 points in 61 playoff games with the organization, winning the CHL playoff MVP award in 2013-14.
It remains to be seen where Schaafsma will end up, but the mark he left on the organization can only be described by Tommy Daniels. Below is a clip of Matthew Harding’s conversation with Daniels in June:
