How Ideas Spread with Howard Bloom – Episode 6

March 09, 2013

I am fascinated by the idea of ideas. And I am fascinated by how ideas spread. In 1995, I walked past a book in Barnes & Noble called The Lucifer Principle: A Scientific Expedition Into the Forces of History by Howard Bloom. The book affected me deeply. It is a book about science and history, and for money, a whole lot more. I emailed the author, Howard Bloom, and we've been friends ever since. Howard is a polymath. He's a scientist, a writer, a great thinker, and at one point, Howard ran the largest PR firm in the music business, managing acts like Prince, Michael Jackson, ZZ Top, and John Cougar Mellencamp. I ask Howard to explain memes, how we successfully sell ideas, influence and charisma, and how he sold artists like John Mellencamp.

Howard's known me long enough to still call by me Sam, my first name.
