From Welfare to Digital Nomad Lawyer
Even as a child, Milena Cardinal was a passionate puzzle solver. Today she gets excited about finding creative ways of resolving complex legal issues that her clients bring to her law firm.
At age 21 she was a young mother on welfare, last year, during the pandemic, she was able to operate her highly successful, growing legal practice entirely remotely while living in Columbia, Mexico and the USA. In this episode, Milena shares how to prepare for a digital nomad adventure and what it takes to manage a business, real estate portfolio and find time for family.
As a private real estate investor herself, Milena is well versed in real estate, from its legal to its business aspects. She has combined these joint interests to venture into the intricate world of private lending.
She is also on a mission to bring the wonders of investing in Quebec to more Canadians and simplifying the legal process as much as possible in a Province that historically creates way more paperwork!

Milena is known for the care she provides to her clients and her focus on surpassing their expectations. She and her team strive to approach the law differently. Paperless, efficient, available, approachable, tech-savvy, creative, and human, this firm prides itself on shaking up the legal world and its traditions.
Milena was called to the Bar in Ontario in 2011. She is a member of the Law Society of Upper Canada and the Stormont Dundas & Glengarry Law Association and currently sits on the Board of Directors for the Cornwall Chamber of Commerce. Milena obtained her common law degree, a Doctor of Laws (J.D.), from the Queen’s University Faculty of Law in Kingston, Ontario. Prior to that, she earned her civil law degree (L.LL.) from the University of Sherbrooke in Quebec.
When she finds a spare moment to herself, Milena loves to spend time with her children, host dinner parties and play board games.
