Ep 187: “The Hurt Locker”

April 12, 2022

We defuse Kathryn Bigelow’s “The Hurt Locker” and discuss:

  • Cinematography, camerawork, transitions;
  • Story & writing, opening scene, what’s in a title;
  • Interview an Army veteran brother of the pod, Justin;
  • and other such stuff and things and stuff.

Moral courage is the most valuable and usually the most absent characteristic in men. – General Patton

Notes & References:

A bomb suit can weigh over 125lbs, plus the helmet and breathing apparatus can add another 60lbs

The Hurt Locker shot heavily on the Canon 8-64mm T2.4 lens

Hurt Locker had a festival run throughout 2008 but had its official US release in 2009, thus qualifying it for the 2009 Oscars and confusing tf out of me
