Custom Knife Maker Brian Brown - The Knife Junkie Podcast Episode 304

March 27, 2022

Brian Brown, custom knife maker, joins Bob "The Knife Junkie" DeMarco on episode 304 of The Knife Junkie Podcast.

In a few short years, Brown has made a huge impression on the knife world, winning awards and taking his custom designs mainstream. Brown's first foray into production knives was a huge success, gaining instant popularity in enthusiast circles with his the titanium frame lock, Yeager-M, a hollow ground, steep tipped Wharncliffe on bearings, expertly crafted by Reate.

Brown's other production knife is the recent blockbuster, Raptor, a double-peaked, hollow ground, clip point, M390 blade, on a super-smooth and ergonomic titanium body. The Raptor's blade design was based on his custom folder Warthog, which won the Best Tactical Folder award at Blade Show 2021, and shows a radical design departure from the Yeager.

Still in the early stages of his knife making career, Brian discusses the challenges of running a small knife business and balancing passion with responsibility. He talks about the struggles of going from a steady job in retail, supporting a family, to risking it all for his dream of making knives full time. Brown's trajectory illustrates perfectly the notion that with a lot of passion, conviction and hard work, dreams can be achieved.
