Denis Tyrell and Tyrell Knifeworks create custom forged knives from Damascus, High Carbon and Stainless Steel. Though he considers himself a hobbyist bladesmith, Denis's hobby has become a passion, with each new knife pushing his capabilities. Denis incorporates copper in his Damascus blades, which are beautiful, unusual and robust.
Denis got into knife making after watching "Forged in Fire" with his son. First he taught himself to weld, then made many of the tools he uses today to make his exquisite and complex knives.
The shark logo on his knives came from his passion and expertise as PADI scuba diving instructor. He has been close up to his inspiration while cage diving with great white sharks and swimming with many others.
On his YouTube channel, Tyrell creates videos documenting the complex build process that each Tyrell Knife undergoes. Most knives in his website gallery have accompanying creation videos. Tyrell recently won The Bowie Knife Challenge, shown on 18 different YouTube channels and featured in Blade Magazine.
Denis has recently embarked on working towards his five ABS Journeyman knives with a recent bowie build featured in a YouTube process video.
