Why would a world renowned opera tenor choose to live in Hawaii? Kip Wilborn has enjoyed a career that has flourished in both North America and Europe. As leading tenor he has performed in opera houses including San Francisco Opera, Opera National de Paris, New York City Opera, Trieste’s Teatro Giuseppe Verdi, Berlin’s Theater des Westens, and Dublin Grand Opera.
Kip Wilborn’s roles include Cavaradossi in TOSCA (Puccini), Pinkerton in MADAMA BUTTERFLY (Puccini), Calaf in TURANDOT (Puccini), Pelleas in PELLEAS ET MELISANDE (Maeterlinck/Debussy) , Don Jose in CARMEN (Bizet), Turiddu in CAVALLERIA RUSTICANA (Mascagni), and Sigmund in DIE WALKURE (Wagner). He has also served as New Hope Christian College’s director of creative arts. Today he lives in Hawaii.
