The Gay Life of a Country Boy finally hits Episode 100!

The first post of the GCB blog was June 23, 2009.  I pretty much threw myself into blogging and told everyone who I was…the country boy from Southwest Alabama with humble beginnings.  Never in my life did I think I would be operating a blog and certainly not a podcast.

The first podcast was posted on July 1, 2009.  I have to say I was pretty terrified.  I remember sitting in the computer room upstairs and not knowing what I was doing.  I sat there for a while, wiping my hands on my shorts as they were sweaty.  Eventually I pressed record on Garage Band and started letting the words flow.  Today, it’s basically no different than that first day only now, it’s much easier to speak and ideas flow more freely.

With the help of Tim from Terminally Single, I was able to set-up my stream and iTunes account and he was my first cohost.  As time went by, I thankfully had others to bounce off ideas during the show.  George, Romo, and Kimberly have been so loving, funny, and helpful on many shows and I love them so much for being there.  Visitors to the show have made it memorable as well, such as Nick, Ken Summers (Halloween interview), Jay the Hauntcub (comics), Larry (the creator of my logo), Drake Jensen (the beautiful gay country singer), my sister on her trips up from Alabama, and the others who have appeared, especially the cast of Pokin’ It With A Stick when they called me in Alabama while I was visiting my family and couldn’t record a live show for lack of all equipment and connection.  That was when you could hear me in my natural element….accent and all!

As I hit 100 episodes, I look back and see how I have changed…not only as a person but as a podcaster.  I can see the times when I have sat down to record something and my brain wasn’t in the mental state it should be or never making it to the room to record a show because I was either doing something else or knew when I woke up that I didn’t want to deal with it.  Don’t get me wrong…I love podcasting.  It’s a creative process and it allows me to get my feelings and thoughts out to the world.  Every podcaster, however, knows the feeling of not being creative or simply not having the drive to do it.  I know I’m not alone.  But at the same time, I know that I need and want to push forward and continue the show I have created.

I hope that I can be here on The Gay Life of a Country Boy for many years to come.
