How To Do Yoga With Your Kids with Nubia Henderson

January 07, 2022

Two years deep in a global pandemic, the whole family could really use some yoga right now. Family yoga games are a fun way to spend meaningful time together, strengthen family bonds, and pour confidence and peace in one another.  In this episode, I chat with Nubia Henderson, founder of Kids Jamm. We talk about what kids yoga look like, how to engage children in the practice, and give tips on getting started with doing yoga with your family today.

More about our guest, Nubia Henderson | As a core principle, Nubia teaches that self-love is the foundation for all positive change in our relationships, especially within ourselves and our communities. Activating this principle, she creates spaces for family yoga and mindfulness practice in underserved communities.

After the birth of her daughter Nubia was really challenged to live her yoga and returned to her roots of West African dance, Kundalini yoga and meditation. Her journey of self-love and passion for children led her to create kids jamm, signature child-centered classes combining music and movement with prescriptive techniques and strategies for behavior management for ADD+ADHD, effective parent-child communication and identifying emotional triggers. Her goal is for families to understand the principles of yoga and use the tools in their daily lives.

By applying an arts-integrated approach to sharing the tools of yoga and mindfulness, Nubia encourages her students to “live what you love, from the inside out.” A graduate of Howard University, Nubia holds a 200-hour yoga and Y.O.G.A for Youth certification
