More About This Show:
When Dr. Isaac isn't authoring books or training other doctors, he is also running private designer healthcare centers. And at those centers he and his team provide personalized health regimens for their patients. Today he shares some of the basic, yet profoundly impactful health tips he prescribes, tips you can start implementing right now.
And if you're thinking you don't need to worry about getting healthy (or healthier) and you'll do that when you're in your 40s, 50s or 60s, think again. Dr. Isaac says the medical profession is finding that disease is starting 10-40 years before it's diagnosed. For example, autopsies on children who have died in car accidents are reporting evidence of heart disease as early as 10 years of age. 10 years old!
It's the food we're eating and teaching our children to eat that's one of the sources of this problem. But it's also the environmental stress and toxins that are contributing to our overall health issues, young and old. So what do we do? How do we combat stress, toxins and perhaps even our genetic predisposition to disease?
When it comes to our genetics, epigenome research indicates we can control our genes through the decisions we make and the environments we expose ourselves to. So take care of yourself properly and you're genes will not be a deciding factor in your overall health.
Regarding stress and environmental toxins, Dr. Isaac has a few suggestions for us. The first one is to get more positive ions in our daily life. Get out in the sun, go barefoot and feel the ground (he swears there's science to back this one up) and lower the inflammation in your body through diet.
The first suggestions are simple and self-explanatory so let's look at diet. Lowering inflammation through your diet is also fairly simple: eat more good fats like coconut oil and olive oil. He also suggests trying out intermittent fasting. There are two levels to this one: basic and advanced.
For basic just eat 3 meals totaling 1600 calories a day, in an 8-hour period. Then stop eating until the next day. For advanced limit yourself to 600 calories a day for 2 days a week. Basic is great if you simply want to up your game and you're already healthy. Advanced is perfect for people who want to get rid of "brain fog" or drop excess weight.
Dr. Isaac goes much deeper into additional health hacks you can use (like why glutathione is so important and how to get more of it) so one final suggestion to leave you with is taking in more gut-healthy foods. Why gut-healthy foods? Because there's a strong link between gut health and brain health as well as overall health. A few foods to add to your diet are fermented vegetables and organic kefir or organic yogurt made from grass-fed animals' milk.
These are just a few of the plethora of health hacks Dr. Isaac prescribes on the show. Have a listen and remember to make one change at a time until you reach your goal, then make another. Don't try to do them all at once! After you've listened, join me in thanking Dr. Isaac for being here. Thank you for being here too. Enjoy the episode and we'll see you next time.
