Ep 160 Crisis to Catastrophe: Women & Homelessness
Figures from the Department of Housing released last week, show that there were 8,374 people homeless nationally in September, 3,124 of whom were children. Women account for more than 40% of the homeless population and the vast majority of one-parent homeless families are headed by single-mothers. In this podcast Irish Times Social Affairs Correspondent Kitty Holland speaks to Barbara Corcoran from the charity Depaul Ireland & Róisín McDonald, manager of family team services at Focus Ireland, about how increasing homelessness in Ireland affects women.
