The Ernst Hilger Gallery on the first floor of Dorotheergasse 5 in Vienna's 1st district represents the works of artists such as Erró and Mel Ramos, alongside representatives of Austrian modernism from the sixties onwards, who will always have a special place, and protagonists the most important international art movements of the 20th century - from Pablo Picasso and Jean Dubuffet, pop art artists like Andy Warhol to narrative figuration (Jacques Monory).

Ernst Hilger - President of FEAGA for several years and a member of the advisory board of numerous art fairs such as Art Basel - was the longest-serving President of the Association of Austrian Galleries and, in this function, played a key role in the current interpretation of the role of galleries as partners to museums and collectors and government representatives. The list of represented artists is representative of the long history of the gallery.

Not only the past but also the future is kept in view. Groundbreaking collaborations in Austria with various companies (Paylife, Siemens, Austrian Airlines, Unicredit, 98.3 Superfly.fm) not only pursued economic interests, but also led to the creation of new collections and collectors as well as new ones that are essential for the entire art scene today Exhibition venues to promote art. Together with curators such as Shaheen Merali, Claire Breukel, Diana Wiegersma, Maria Vassileva, Alenka Gregoric, Jeanette Zwingenberger and others, the gallery has expanded its sphere of activity in the past fifteen years in the direction of the emerging art scenes and markets such as Iran, Africa and South America.

In order to expand and intensify the cooperation with international exhibition halls and museums, the HilgerBROT art gallery was opened in the former anchor bread factory in Vienna's 10th district (Absberggasse 27) in 2009. This 800 square meter room represents the gallery's laboratory for curatorial projects and influences and supports all partners involved. Guest accommodation for guest and local artists and curators was essential for the continuation of our exhibition projects in other institutions, as well as as an attraction for international collectors who visited Vienna and acquired works - including Harald Falckenberg, Jorge Perez, the Photographic Collection of the Qatar Museum, Darga Jais (Bali), Sutomo Suprajito (Indonesia), the Nadour Collection and many more. The cooperation partners include the Museum of Modern Art El Salvador, the Margulies Collection, the Mestna Gallery Laibach, the Museum of Modern Art Bucharest, the City Gallery Sofia and the MMoMA in Moscow. All of these institutions showed exhibitions that were developed and presented with and in the HilgerBROT art gallery.

In 2013, the premises in the 10th district were expanded with Hilger NEXT.

Over the past ten years, the work of the gallery has been recognized by the participation of its artists in important international exhibitions and biennials: Anastasia Khoroshilova in a group exhibition in the Palais de Tokyo (F) and her "collateral event" at the Venice Biennale 2011 (I),
