The word love in English has a multitude of uses. We use the same word to express many different types of love, so we know instinctively that the way one expresses love with a spouse is, and must be, entirely different to the way it is expressed with grandchildren. Love of a particular football team or pop star is a different type of love again.

Yet the same word describes them all.

This week we look at the love which came down at Christmas time and how that impacts the modern world’s declaration that ‘love is love’
