The Outdoors Show
OS 1275: Old School Kingfish Shootout LIVE!
It’s Old School Time! The Daily’s Old School Kingfish Shootout brought to you by Yellowfin is officially underway, and the Outdoors Show is all over it! With Capt. Kevin out in the water, Capt. Kirk and Jeff manned the studio (along with Jeff’s son Dylan), and talked to quite the gaggle of participants, as well as the man behind the Old School, Paul Dozier.
Coming out of some thunderstorms last night, the weather was in great shape, so people came out in DROVES. 654 boats full of them, in fact – a new Old School record!!!!!! Paul shared a bunch of great info about the people coming out this year, along with all the great prizes and fun stuff happening.
As the morning wore on, it sounded like the challenge was finding the bait; looks like it got word about the tournament and tried to find some safe spaces. But, if anglers could find the bait, they were definitely getting some kings in the boat!
- Here’s your L.V. Hiers gear tip of the week: You have to use some kind of wire for kingfishing. Typically we use the American Fishing Wire 25-40lb (Seven Strand in Camo). Here’s a really good tutorial video on how to tie a kingfish rig with seven strand: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YnZKE1Xbkmo
- Here’s your Ring Power CAT tip of the week: Follow the Old School Kingfish Shootout leaderboard here: https://www.oldschoolkingfish.com/
