BFM Episode 4: Using Stories To Cope, Conquer, And Connect | Michael Allen Williamson
Michael’s storytelling started out as a way to keep the bullies away, but eventually led him down a path of creativity and self-expression that has served him, his family, and, soon, his readers very well.
In this episode, author Michael Allen Williamson shares the struggle of trying to fit in when his parents moved him across country as a kid.
He thought that in order to feel valued and appreciated, he had to start making things up about himself. Trying to mask his insecurities, Michael became skilled at elaborate storytelling as a coping mechanism for the loneliness he felt.
That same storytelling skill would eventually return as he began to look for ways to teach his kids valuable lessons on living courageously. These stories turned into two children books, and ultimately, led to the writing of his latest novel, The Immense Center - due out on December 20, 2015.
