Police have made an arrest in the death of a security guard at a downtown South Bend parking garage. 62 year old Robert Pulliam was shot and killed in the Wayne Street garage Sunday night, but a picture of a license plate on his phone helped lead police to 33-year old Derrick Pratcher in Michigan, where he was arrested Monday. Pratcher is charged with murder and other charges.


A rare sight in Washington Monday, as leading Democratic and Republican Senators both took aim at Federal Reserve Chairman Jay Powell's warning that interest rates will have to go higher to check inflation. Progressive Elizabeth Warren and conservative Joe Kennedy both charged that the rate increases will put up to two million people out of work. Powell's response, in a nutshell: inflation hurts everybody, not just those who lose jobs, and it has to be dealt with.


Attorney General Merrick Garland is filing an antitrust lawsuit to block JetBlue's $3.8 billion merger with Spirit Airlines. He says the merger would limit consumer options and increase airfares. The merger would create the nation's fifth-largest airline. New York, Massachusetts, and the District of Columbia also joined the lawsuit.


Mike Brey's 23 seasons leading Notre Dame basketball came to an end last night, as the Irish lost to Virginia Tech 67-64 in the opening round of the ACC Tournament, ending their season.


The Big Ten Tournament opens tonight in Indianapolis, with Ohio State against Wisconsin, and Minnesota facing Nebraska. Michigan and Michigan State play tomorrow, Purdue and Indiana on Friday.


NBA: The Detroit Pistons took a 119-117 home loss to the Washington Wizards. The Chicago Bulls are at Denver tonight.
