SFR 311: A Taste of Canadian Candy Bars

December 14, 2014

–The shooting death of 12yo Tamir Rice sparks outrage, not just because the deceased is a child, but because the officer, who many argue opened fire too quick, was previously considered unfit for duty by another department.

–The chokehold death of Eric Garner has many, including former president George W. Bush, wondering about the decisions of grand juries when it comes to charging police officers.

–We finally give our thoughts on the shooting death of Michael Brown by Officer Darren Wilson, and explain our thoughts on why this grand jury in Ferguson decided there was no probable cause to charge the officer with a crime.

–Discussing the Ferguson riots, and whether or not criminal acts like these can lead to positive social change.

–Jason recommends “Eyewitness Testimony” by Elizabeth Loftus, while Bobby implores you to check out “The Invisible Gorilla” by Chabris/Simons

–Bobby reviews “Maniac,” which stars Elijah Wood in the role originally made famous by the great Joe Spinell.

–Jason reviews “Nightcrawler,” written and directed by Dan Gilroy and starring Jake Gyllenhaal as the sociopathic Louis Bloom.

–SFR Superfan Tasha recently sent us “a taste of Canada,” including a variety of Canadian candy bars that are tough to get ahold of here in the United States. We sample several, including Big Turk, Aero, Caramilk, and give our thoughts while our mouths are very much full.
