Absolutely stacked first hour today so we jumped right into it.   “The Week in Weird” found us talking about Melba Ketchum’s problematic Bigfoot DNA paper and Russian meteor “truthers.”  Also, we tackled the sensationalism over the manhunt and death of Christopher “Rambro” Dorner, the shocking resignation of Pope Benedict XVI, and some harsh statistics about U.S. gun deaths surpassing U.S. war deaths.  And what’s this about Sheriff Joe Arpaio hiring child sex offenders to guard schools?  Absolutely unbelievable.

In our 2nd hour, we celebrated the return of comic writer Dirk Manning to the show.  Dirk is best known as the creator of the “Nightmare World” series.  His latest book, “Write or Wrong:  A Writer’s Guide to Creating Comics” was the topic of discussion, and Dirk dishes out some honest and forthright advice for creatives looking to get into the comic book world.  What you need to know about getting your work into the right hands at the right time, building a team, as well as more introspective issues like, “Are you really good enough?” are all covered.  Whether the world of comics is for you or not, we think you’ll enjoy this funny and informative look at the creative process, as well as hearing some outrageous stories from the travels of the always entertaining and inimitable and Mr. Manning.
