Eps 108: Exploring the figure Jesus, as the Son of Man, guest Daniel J. Kirk

June 21, 2017

Today, Daniel J. Kirk (PhD Duke) and I enter a conversation about the Jesus-the man. The first three gospels of the Bible tell a story about Jesus that the final gospel doesn't seem to: One that speaks about Jesus among us in a rich, vibrant, enfleshed way that is meant to be an example to us in our own human frailty.

This message about incarnation is often overshadowed by the higher Christological view of Jesus as divine being. The early church thought of Jesus as equally both (the dual nature of Christ. 100% God and 100% human). Today, the same belief is accepted, but often the focus (unintentionally?) shifts to the unattainable divine nature side and we lose something of the human side as we endeavor to understand this figure, Jesus, as described in the Bible and that we may use as a model for our lived lives in a broken and hurting world now.

This fascinating conversation will give you a lot to chew on and the show notes I've created to companion this episode have plenty of details and extra goodies. They can be accessed here: https://www.patreon.com/posts/11851936 (Unlocking show notes supports the production costs of creating the show too. Thank you in advance for checking those out!)

Thank you for faithfully listening in and doing what you can to support my efforts. It's appreciated!
with my warmest regards,
