Spark My Muse
Eps 98: Eric Zimmer (One You Feed, Host) MOTIVATION for Lasting Life Changes - Spark My Muse
We all want to improve our lives. Maybe it's to shed 20 pounds. Maybe it's to quit smoking, stay off-line, meditate, pray, eat better, or exercise more. Maybe we need longer term oomph to finish writing a book, completing a passion project, or saving for a trip. But lasting change is hard. (If it weren't we'd all be fit, rich, and unworried.) BUT before we get to our goals -we lose heart or motivation, we procrastinate, we fall behind, we get distracted, or we, somehow, fail. Eric Zimmer knows about failure and getting his life back. He was a homeless, heroine addict by the age of 24. He now hosts an acclaimed podcast featuring the foremost teachers, scientists, and spiritual leaders on the planet, and he speaks and coaches people all over the world to help them make lasting behavior changes.
I am so happy to welcome Eric back. He was my guest from Episode 58. Eric Zimmer is the host of the acclaimed -The One You Feed podcast- (it was selected by iTunes as a Best Podcast in 2014).
Today, we talk about his insightful TEDx talks he gave in Columbus, Ohio to a very large audience on Lasting Behavior Change based on the 3 Key Insights to Winning the board game Risk.
We discuss the overlooked secret behind motivation, the work of leading behavioral scientist B J Fogg, curtailing our environments and social inputs to ensure success, and the 2 key factors that make us procrastinate. Beyond that, I tap into Eric's wisdom on how we should interact in a new world of continual social media outrage, propaganda, unease, stress, and increasing negativity; and I ask him what insights have been the most important to him recently.
It's a fascinating, helpful, and uplifting conversation you are sure to enjoy. --------don't miss out--- Show Notes that will link you to all sorts of links, people, and related information can be found at patreon.com/sparkmymuse (This is a $1 monthly ALL-ACCESS Show Notes PASS - check out on the perks and then just cancel anytime.)
