Spark My Muse
Soul School - Lesson 46: The Story of How "Heathens" Received my Son - Spark My Muse
When "being a mascot" is the best your child can hope for in terms of peer acceptance and belonging (at your church no less), the context for you and your family shifts. How you help your child cope and where your find your salvation can take a surprising turn.
That is my personal story and the springboard for a deeper reflection today: about how we find our way in the world, make life better for ourselves, our family, and others, and maybe find some healing in the process.
The topics of "fear of other", suffering, shame, hospitality, disability, community, church, and the like, are covered well in my conversations with Tom Reynolds. Be sure to check those links in the show notes–they are invaluable.
(Also, photos and one of my sons videos will be embedded in the show notes and his youtube channel link where he loves to upload new creations will be listed in the show notes if you want to befriend him and encourage him in ways the Christian peers at church never wanted to. *You can also search youtube for: "Nathan DeLay trains". he adores getting new subscribers.)
Thank for being great listeners, friends and fans. So many retweets and Facebook shares, so many write reviews, and some even chip in with money and it warms my heart and quite LITERALLY- keeps the program solvent. If you haven't spread the word, given to the show or written an iTunes review, please be a part of the unique and loving base of this weird and wild Spark My Muse thing we're all doing. YOU - make it worth it.
