Soul School - Lesson 40: Prejudice, Peace, and Justice - Spark My Muse

July 13, 2016

If you didn't know me, by the looks of me, you wouldn't know my non white heritage--until now. That's why I am a beneficiary of white privilege, but my dark skinned father was not.

Today, is a very different Soul School. It's a way to discuss some of my story and my father's story of being non white. I saw the prejudice he faced daily: the prejudice I never had to face, unless someone saw my last name before they met me and saw I look white.

What can be done about prejudice? That's what this episode is about. I'll tell you what #blacklivesmatters TRULY means and why people with light skin have to do lot to help change the prevailing (sometimes unconscious) attitudes in "normative culture".

Better days are ahead, my dear friends, but not if we stay uninvolved.
