Clearing Hurdles
When I was a young man, I loved track and field. I knew all the big names in almost every event—Dwight Stones in the high jump, Sergey Bubka in the pole vault, Al Feuerbach in the shot put, and Reynaldo “Skeets” Nehemiah in the high hurdles. Nehemiah was the top-ranked hurdler in the world for four consecutive years and was the first person to break 13 seconds in the 110-meter high hurdles.
