Marvel's "The Defenders": Not Your Average, Everyday Avengers

September 05, 2017

Marvel's Cinematic Universe of Iron Man, Thor, Captain America and the other Avengers are an an unquestioned success on the big screen.  But Marvel's TV offerings have been... a mixed bag at best so far.  Marvel's Agents of SHIELD and Agent Carter haven't gotten the traction on broadcast TV the studio hoped for. Daredevil, Jessica Jones, Luke Cage and Iron Fist have each had their own series on Netflix but no one other than the streaming giant knows the actual viewing numbers.  Now comes Marvel's The Defenders, an 8-episode series out on Netflix now that unites those four heroes. In this episode of the podcast, Andy Farnsworth, Tysen Webb and Aaron Zundel review the series and it's cast (hint: pretty impressive), talk a bit about the history of The Defenders in the Marvel comics (hint: not very impressive) and what they think of this grittier portion of what is supposed to be the same world as Spider-Man, Cap and Tony Stark.
