Trilogies--The Final Act: What Makes a Good Third Movie in a Trilogy?

July 13, 2017

Summer 2017 has seen three third movies in a trilogy released: Cars 3, Despicable Me 3 and War for the Planet of the Apes. So the whole crew is together to talk about the trilogy concept and what makes a good third movie in a trilogy or series. Tysen Webb, Adam Thomas, Andy Farnsworth and Aaron Zundel also discuss some of their favorite third movies (there's one they all have in common), third movies that never got made but should have, and then categorize a bunch of them into great, decent and terrible categories, including:  Alien3, Back to the Future III, Batman Forever, Captain America Civil War, Cars 3, Fast & Furious: Tokyo Drift, Dark Knight Rises, Despicable Me 3, Harry Potter & the Prisoner of Azkaban, Hobbit: Battle of 5 Armies, Indiana Jones & the Last Crusade, Iron Man 3, LOTR: Return of the King, Matrix Revolutions, Pirates of the Caribbean At World's End, Return of the Jedi, Revenge of the Sith, Spider-Man 3, Star Trek III, Star Trek Beyond, Superman III, Toy Story 3, X-Men: The Last Stand, X-Men Apocalypse, War For the Planet of the Apes.   Any we missed from the list? Do you agree with our categorizations? Listen and then comment!
