SCH 118 Three Self-Care Hacks I’ve Learned from Hummingbirds

September 25, 2022

I’ve learned thing about self-care from hummingbirds. Sure, I could have learned these lessons elsewhere, but who wouldn’t want to learn from hummingbirds?

Have You Ever Learned from Hummingbirds?

I have a blogging friend who swears hummingbirds have it in for him. According to him, he’s gotten stabbed a time or two. I’ve never met a hummingbird intent on sword fighting with ME, but I’ve seen plenty take a stab at each other. Each summer I spend countless hours watching and photographing hummingbirds. During the winter (I live in the high desert of Arizona), I’ll travel to Tucson or Phoenix just so I can see my ‘pets.’

I don’t actually keep hummers as pets (that’s illegal). But I get great enjoyment from watching their antics and photographing their beauty. And the more I observe something, the more I want to learn about it. Which means I’ve spent a lot of time researching hummingbird behavior, migration, and nesting habits.

I’ve learned a lot from hummingbirds in the last ten years. In today’s podcast I’ll share the self-care hacks hummingbirds have taught me. Other than patience. It takes a lot of patience to get great photos of hummingbirds.
