Celebrating its release 62 years ago on September 5, 1960, Greg has chosen the Hammer film “The Brides of Dracula” for our viewing pleasure this week. Join Greg and Karen as they discuss the film while they enjoy a Transylvania Iced Tea. The recipe that Greg found on drinknation.com is below.
Transylvania Iced Tea Recipe
• 1/2 oz gin
• 1/2 oz raspberry liqueur
• 1/2 oz light rum
• 1/2 oz white tequila
• 1/2 oz vodka
• Fill with 1/2 cranberry juice
• Fill with 1/2 sour mix
Instructions:
- Add ice to a mason jar.
- Add ingredients and stir well.
A Brief Synopsis: A young baron who has inherited the Dracula curse is kept locked away by his mother to hide the family secret – although she does procure for him an occasional victim. However, when he breaks out of his castle prison, she becomes a victim herself, and the undead lad takes flight to terrorize the local village and rampage through a girls’ school before a specialist is called in.
Some of the topics discussed and highlights of this episode include:
- Just how many films are included in Hammer’s Dracula series?
- Smelling salts. What are the ingredients?
- Greg makes a “The Empire Strikes Back” reference.
- We can’t do a film with Peter Cushing without a “Star Wars” reference.
- Greg and Karen both gush about Peter Cushing’s acting.
- We have what we are now calling “Fashion Moment with Karen”.
- Greg makes a reference to the 80’s glam band “Britny Fox”.
