In celebration of the 63rd anniversary of its release on June 22, Karen has chosen the 1960 Vincent Price film, “House of Usher” for our viewing enjoyment this week. Join Greg and Karen as they discuss the film while they enjoy a cocktail called the “Madeleine”. The recipe that Karen found on shakeitdrinkit.com is below.
Madeleine Cocktail Recipe
• 1/2 oz Cointreau
• 1/2 oz amaretto
• 3 1/2 oz pineapple juice
Instructions:
- Put all the cocktail ingredients in the right order : Cointreau, Amaretto Cartron, Pineapple Juice.
- Served in a champagne flute.
A Brief Synopsis: Based on the classic story “The Fall of the House of Usher” by Edgar Allan Poe and directed by legendary filmmaker Roger Corman, this thriller features Vincent Price as Roderick Usher, a man who believes his family to be cursed by incurable madness. So sure is he of his family’s doom, that when his sister Madeline announces her engagement to Philip Winthrop, Roderick will stop at nothing to prevent their marriage and keep the Usher bloodline from continuing.
