Homelessness In The Time of Coronavirus with Rev. Bill Crews

June 18, 2020

We have all been impacted in some way by COVID19. Loss of income, social distancing and home learning has presented many challenges for our society, but what about the people who were already living in poverty?  How has this pandemic affected the men, women and children living on the streets?

Our guest today is Rev. Bill Crews, founder of Exodus Foundation, who has worked for 50 years with the homeless. In that time Rev. Bill has not seen much change in the condition of the homeless except for the numbers - an increase in the number of homeless.

In this episode, Rev. Bill unveils the seemingly hopeless situation of poverty in Australia and

what needs to happen to flatten the curve of homelessness.  COVID19 restrictions have greatly impacted the Exodus Foundation, costing them a staggering $1m per year to change the way they provide their daily meals to the people who need them most.  Rev. Bill shares his concerns regarding mental health, sickness and crime in our society and how the people who are most in need are often the ones who are overlooked.

Charitable organisations such as Exodus Foundation are doing a tremendous job but they need our help.  We can all be part of the solution.
