102: Job Search with Laura Yamin
Today is a solo episode where I share my experience job searching this past year.
Last year, I felt stuck in a boring corporate job. I spend my hours login on Facebook, feeling defeated because I had nothing to show for. By June 2015, I decided to venture out and start the job search process. I decided at the time that I wanted to go back to my old career in higher education.
Job searching in higher education takes a lot of time. The process took about 9 months of applying, interviewing and not finding the right fit. I was frustrated. I decided to finally pivot to a position in corporate. Within a couple of weeks of applying, I landed a temporary contract position. I actually love what I am doing and the location is ideal.
I am currently job searching for a permanent position in corporate. This time around I am being picky about pay, location and tasks. I want a job that is in alignment with my values.
On a related note, I decided to start offering career coaching again. I specialized working with clients who hate their jobs and are ready to transition to positions that are in alignment with their values. If you are interested in chatting more about it. I offer free 30 minutes job search strategies sessions. Book here.
