87: Traveling to India

June 30, 2016

This show is sponsored by the Young Professionalist.
My guest this episode is Carly Shankman. She talks about her experience of travelling to India for three months. By profession, she is a holistic health coach. She operates online and helps her clients shift to a real food diet, get rid of processed foods and nourish their bodies. She also teaches yoga. Carly Shankman said “YES” to travel to India for three months. She shares her story and how she ended up travelling to India. Carly Shankman is a great admirer of Indian food and on one particular outing to a restaurant with her friend, where they ate Indian food; she ended up saying “Wouldn’t it be cool if I could go to India”. Only a few months later, she received a call from her friend who was travelling to India and asked Carly to accompany her.
Carly sold everything, bought a one-way ticket to Mumbai, and then headed down to Kerala where she would practice yoga several times a day, evening meditation, eating meals in silence and much more for self-discovery. Taking the initiative and saying “YES” was not easy for her, she was in constant doubt when she left her USA. She feels like letting herself to be guided and not planning was what made her journey a great experience for her. She believes saying “YES” for the first time is the hardest but once you are through the ordeal, you are always ready to take new initiatives in your life and continue with your individual growth. She believes this journey had a great impact on her personality and on her outlook to life.
We asked her the following questions in this podcast
