The “beach†in this particular case is not necessarily a good thing. It is a place where broadcasters wind up when their services are no longer required. A broadcaster will often find him/her self “on the beach†when the station they are working for flips formats. It is something that happens fairly often and when it does, it affects the lives of not only those who are fans of said station, but also those who work there.
