Main Topic- Post Apocalyptic Books

-299 Days Series- 9 books- Glen Tate: Follows a man through a government collapse due to unsustainable government regulation and oversight. Shows the inner struggle from moving to a reliance on the “government system” to one of self-reliance and independance.

-Lights Out- David Crawford: The novel examines how normal Americans might cope with a EMP shutting down the nations electrical grid and follows the downward spiral created by such an event

-One Second After- William R Forstchen: The novel deals with an unexpected electromagnetic pulse attack on the United States as it affects the people living in and around the small American town of Black Mountain, North Carolina.

-Patriots- Surviving the Coming Apocalypse (4 Books)- James Wesley Rawles: Set in the near future amidst hyperinflation and a catastrophic global economic collapse, Patriots tells the story of a group of survivalists that flee riots and chaos in metropolitan Chicago to a survivalist retreat that they have prepared near Bovill, Idaho. If anyone has absolutely no idea where to start with prepping and the survivalists mindset this book gives explicit detail on what products the characters used.

-Lucifer’s Hammer- Larry Niven and Jerry Pournelle: The story details a comet impacting on Earth, an end to civilization, and the battle for the future. It encompasses the discovery of the comet, the Los Angeles social scene, and a cast of diverse characters whose fate is to be among the few who survive the massive cataclysm and the resulting tsunamis, plagues, famines, and battles among scavengers and cannibals.

-The Dog Stars- Peter Heller: set a decade or so after an epidemic wiped out 99 percent of the U.S. population. And you're not really reading this book for the plot, but more for the slow boil of the characters coping with their new survivalist world.

-Ash Fall- Mike Mullin (3 Books): Follows a boy after the eruption of Mt. Saint Hellens in the journey to find his parents.

-The End- Michael Hopf (4 Books): For Gordon Van Zandt life once was one of duty and loyalty to his country, so when 9/11 happened he dropped out of college and joined the Marine Corps. This youthful idealism vanished one fateful day in a war torn city in Iraq. Ten years later, he is still struggling with the ghosts of his past but must now face a new reality thrust on him and his family. North America, Europe and the Far East have all suffered a devastating Super-EMP attack that has caused catastrophic damage to the power grids and all electrical devices.
