Real Talk Live 216 Celebrating Black Music Month: GOING BLACK IN THE DA DAY
Oohhh... Do you remember? Â Billie Jean, Control, Fight the Power, Cool It Now and Roxann, Roxann!!!!
Oh My God! Michael Jackson. Janet Jackson. Public Enemy. New Edition. UTFO. Â
Yes! Â I remember.
Well what about FUBU clothes, family bar-be-cues, and "Battlin" "Breakin" & "Rappin" in the street? Â Taping "For Lovers' Only" on a cassette tape? Â Racing home to see "He-Man" or "Thundercats" cartoons? Â Frying up french fries with the old grease sitting on the stove in the Crisco can? Â Drinking sugar water cuz you didn't have any Kool-Aid? And having to be home before the street lights came up?Â
Dang, Mama. Its summer time! Â Oh, so I was the only one begging? REALLY?
This was a time when only doctors had pagers and only lawyers and business men needed phones. Â When there was no such thing as a home computer. Â Television only had five channels and went off at 2am. Â When the only cable company was "Preview" after 8pm. Â Oh no, no Netflix and Hula Plus? Â And we were told, "Children should be seen; not heard"
Welllll.... It's June. Â And June is Black Music Month. Â And we here at REAL TALK LIVE 216 love our black music. Â But you know, REAL TALK LIVE 216, had to go DEEPER. Â Cuz it's not just about black music. Â It's about the times we had; OUR YOUTH. Â Â -
So tonight, REAL TALK LIVE 216 is celebrating Black Music Month by going: BLACK IN DA DAY!!!!!!!!!!
