#ShareScience - an InsideScientific Podcast

Talking Real Science with Micaela Merrill
On this episode of #ShareScience, we spoke with Micaela Merrill a junior at Truman State University in Kirksville, Missouri.
Micaela is one of 10 winners of the inaugural Scientist.com STEM Research NIL Award. In this episode, she gives us a brief look at what her inspiration for science is, as well as where she plans to take her career in the future. Her current project focuses on a part of the brain called the cingulum bundle, a major neural connective highway involved in learning, memory, and emotional response regulation. This research is a subset of a larger research story that seeks to understand the risk factors and comorbidities of PTSD in a metropolitan population of Black Americans.
As an award winner, Micaela is working with Scientist.com as a brand ambassador. Read more about the award winners and the STEM Research NIL Award itself here.
