Don’t forget to Remember 2 – Testify

December 30, 2015

We forget a lot don't we...?  Quickly take inventory of all the sermons you remember.  We remember a lot less than what we have heard right?
Humans are forgetful. Any more we need little reminders to pop up on our phones and social media page to remind us of important things.
God commands us to remember.  We are to remember and live out the word of God, but too often we only listen and then forget.
We often remember the wrong things.  We always remember our fear, failure, hurts, insecurities..  This is not by chance.  Our Enemy is continually accusing according to scripture (Revelation 12:10). There is a spiritual entity that tries to keep our lives focused on the wrong things.
We should change that!  Revelation 12:11 tells us how to change that!
The Blood of the Lamb
The Word of our Testimony
We preach a lot about the blood of Jesus, but let's take a moment to talk about your Testimony!
Testify - to serve evidence & proof as a witness.
Are you a witness?  Will you testify?

*PRAY* The Tornado that hit Garland/Dallas
I hope everyone had a great Christmas. I hope you had some much needed time with family. I rejoice that everywhere we went, be it grocery stores or shopping malls we heard music that celebrated the birth of our savior, the Christ, The Messiah Yeshua/Jesus.
I enjoyed taking time to preach our last sermon series about the incarnation. If you missed of that series please go check out the BC series on redemption-church.com.
Next Sunday we will be in the year 2016. Can you believe that!?  We will be starting a new series called Lego Church. It will focus on how God wants to build your life and His church.
Lego Church is next week. The 3 previous weeks was BC.  Does anyone remember the sermon I preached 4 weeks ago?   It’s kind of important you remember..  If you don’t remember I guess I will just need to re-preach it…
Don’t forget to Remember
We have days of remembrance. Days that are set aside. National holidays designed to celebrate and remember.  We have reminders in our calendars and smart phones that alert you that someone’s birthday or anniversary is today…
We have these days of remembrance and these tech reminders because..
Humans are forgetful
Things that we think we will never forget… we forget..
You may have forgotten that sermon preached so recently. In fact, take a moment to inventory the amount sermons you actually remember.  We often remember what we felt versus what was taught.
Your Bible warns you about forgetting the word of God.
James 1:22 Do not merely listen to the word, and so deceive yourselves. Do what it says.(NIV)
James 1:23 Anyone who listens to the word but does not do what it says is like a man who looks at his face in a mirror(NIV)
James 1:24 and, after looking at himself, goes away and immediately forgets what he looks like.(NIV)
James 1:25 But the man who looks intently into the perfect law that gives freedom, and continues to do this, not forgetting what he has heard, but doing it--he will be blessed in what he does.(NIV)
Stern words here but also a great promise. If we hear the word but don’t allow it to take root then we are like people who look into a mirror and look away and forget what they look like.  Your true identity is revealed in God’s word.. if you forget it, you are forgetting your purpose and identity.
The blessing of remembering the word is huge – You will be blessed in what you do.
