Building Strong Friendships- A Tween Devotional By Mother Daughter Duo
Blythe Daniel is the co-author of Mended, and I Love You, Mom!, which she wrote with her mother, Dr. Helen McIntosh. She worked for Harper Collins Christian Publishing in marketing and publicity and now enjoys her work as a literary agent.
Calyn Daniel, one of Blythe’s daughters, is a middle schooler who loves spending time with her friends and family, including her older sister, Maris, and twin brother, William, who is also an author. Calyn believes girls need to know who they are in Christ, how to navigate friend groups—especially when they change—and how to not lose sight of who God has made them to be.
Together, they wrote the book Let’s Be Friends: A Tween Devotional on Finding and Keeping Strong Friendships, which offers tween girls helpful advice on how to find and maintain beneficial friendships with faith at the forefront.
During this episode, Blythe and Calyn share their insights on why they decided to write this book and how this book can serve as a guide for girls who may feel lost in their friendships with friends, family, and even God. Developing meaningful friendships is a vital skill for tween girls, shaping their emotional and spiritual growth and empowering them to positively impact others with their unique talents. This book guides girls in distinguishing between healthy and harmful friendships, navigating conflicts, staying authentic, and exploring other essential aspects of friendship. Each section features heartfelt wisdom on friendship and includes carefully chosen Scripture verses, words of encouragement, and reflective questions with ample space for personal responses.
