Brooklyn Pride’s Jamie Farnam Gives Us The Deets On Brooklyn Pride’s 20th Anniversary Festival
Brooklyn Pride is finally here! Radio Free Brooklyn is a proud sponsor, and we wanted to get all the info so we invited Co-chair Jamie Farnam to the studio to tell us all about the Park Slope event.
“It’s more of a human scale than some of the other prides,” said Farnam. “You go to see your friends at Brooklyn Pride.” The week-long event ends with the Saturday 5K run, festival and march. So far they’ve raised the rainbow flag at Borough Hall, celebrated at a reception with Borough President Eric L. Adams and plan a lot of activities for different members of the community, LGBT or not.
“We really try to serve our community and the Park Slope community,” says Farnam. “It’s half folks that come specifically for pride and half folks that would be there anyway”
The festival is held on 5th Avenue between 3rd and 9th Streets, and the parade kicks off at 7:30 PM from 5th Avenue and Lincoln place in Park Slope. Two stages with acts of all genres performing all day, a family fun zone, food and more line the street.
Listen to our interview to find out what’s happening for the rest of this week and more about Saturday’s festival and the 20th Annual Brooklyn Pride.
