Meet Dylan, an extraordinary individual defying expectations and scaling new heights, quite literally. By day, he's a dedicated professor of mathematics at Cal Poly, balancing the complexities of academia with the challenges of raising a family. But outside the lecture halls, Dylan's passion for climbing propels him into a world of exhilarating adventure. At the age of 50, Dylan embarked on a remarkable journey into the world of competitive climbing, a feat made even more remarkable considering he does so with just one hand. After an impressive finish in his debut at the National Championships, Dylan has secured a spot on the esteemed U.S. National Paraclimbing Team. 

His determination and passion for the sport have led him to represent the USA at prestigious World Cup events in Salt Lake City, Innsbruck, and Arco. 

As the Paraclimbing website describes, paraclimbing is sport climbing for those with disabilities. But watching Dylan, or any other person with one arm or one leg or whatever it may be, ascend vertical walls defies any notion of the word, ‘disability’. 

To continue pursuing his dreams on the international stage, Dylan relies on support from friends, family, and kind-hearted neighbors.
