EP 15. DANA MALSTAFF: Succeeding with Business and Babies

August 19, 2021

When we’ve had enough of discussing balance sheets in the financial world, there’s another (much bigger) discussion to be had about balance:

How we balance the roles we play in life - as parents, partners, friends, community members, business owners, and people.

I’m always amazed by the tenacity of women who balance motherhood and business, dealing with unending uncertainty and subverting societal stereotypes along the way.

What’s even more amazing is how some women have found ways to parent children, nurture other women, and grow thriving businesses into empires in the middle of a global pandemic.

Personally, I’ve never had to choose between soothing a fussy child and spending that extra (much-needed) hour on writing emails, sending invoices, or thinking up the next big move in my business…

But I know someone who has.

Dana Malstaff is the founder of Boss-Mom and creator of the Nurture to Convert Society, but she’s also much more than that. She’s a mother, an author, a podcaster, a content strategist, a template architect, a blind spot reducer, an engagement facilitator, and a movement maker.

Oh, and she has a REALLY engaged group of followers on Facebook. Yep, she does it all. #superwoman #marrymedana

Dana is proof that you can succeed with business and babies - and in this episode of Profit and Impact, she delivers a few tried-and-tested truth bombs that will inspire women (and men) everywhere.

So what’s this episode REALLY about?

The true value in starting your own consulting business Understanding the fundamental differences in the needs and motivations of men and women - and how this impacts business strategy How a woman’s role as the household money manager can create a scarcity mindset What it means to balance “social and business contracts” as a woman Why it’s so important not to give up and find the thing that works for you

Why you should listen

As a mother, a founder, an author, a content strategist, an engagement facilitator, and a movement maker, Dana Malstaff knows a few things about keeping many balls in the air. She also knows how important it is for women to learn how to balance the social and business contracts in a profitable way - and whether you’re pushing a pram uphill or just managing your own procrastination, Dana’s drive will inspire you.

You can quote me on that…

“Clarity is in the doing. Clarity is in the process and making money is in the process.” - Dana Malstaff

“For agency owners, instead of being really profitable - doing one thing and then being able to give - they want to be they want to create maximum impact for everybody. Then they water down what they have to offer, and they water down their profits, so they really can't make much of an impact at all.” - Nev Harris

“I'm so sick of people saying parenting is hard, you know, and that it's this bad thing. Hard is not bad. Working and things being hard is literally what makes life worth living. You don't climb a mountain because it's easy, you get to the freaking top of the mountain because you have done so many hard things to get there. 99% of the other people never got there because they didn't work hard enough.” - Dana Malstaff
