As we continued our study in the gospel of John, we discussed the topic of the superiority of Christ. We saw how the apostle John summarizes the events of chapter three by pointing once again to the preeminence of Christ; Christ is superior because He precedes all earthly teachers and is in fact eternal. John also reasons that because Christ comes from above, He has a firsthand account of the truths of God and is in fact the source of truth. We also saw how the Father has given all authority to Christ; Jesus is Lord above all earthly powers and governments. Finally, we learned that Christ is superior because He alone can give us eternal life and He alone has the ability to save us from the wrath of God.
