Dylan Gutheil on the Art of Exercise Selection, Developing Coaches, and NOT Niching Down

March 08, 2024

Passionate about sports since childhood, Dylan Gutheil played football and rugby in high school and continued his rugby career at Springfield College, where he earned a degree in Exercise Science.

Dylan started personal training right out of college for 5 years until he got frustrated with the corporate training environment and decided there was a better way to deliver coaching that could have a bigger impact on more people’s lives.

And in 2016 his former college classmate and rugby co-captain, Jared, joined him to open Flight Performance and Fitness.

Dylan’s main drive is to build Flight to the best possible training facility it can be so it can help more people reach their personal goals and potential.

And in this episode of the Physical Prep Podcast, we dive into why exercise selection is so critical in your program design, why he’s passionate about developing young coaches, and his thoughts on why they HAVE NOT tried to niche their business down.

Let’s do this!

If I believe I can help this person…or I believe I can deliver a really good service to this person, I’m NOT going to turn them down. – Dylan Gutheil

Have YOU Heard About the New IFAST University?

When Bill and I created IFASTU back in 2016, our singular goal was to make it an elite resource for trainers, coaches and rehab professionals across the globe.

Because there are 100’s, if not 1000’s of coaches who would love to come to IFAST and learn from us, but can’t.

So the new IFAST University is not only sleeker and more streamlined, but we also have two membership options based on where you’re at in your career.

Our IFASTU Standard option is like the Netflix of training con ed. Here you’ll have access to the complete IFASTU archive, which has well over 100 in-depth videos on topics like program design, coaching and anatomy and movement.

Plus, every month you’ll get a new piece of content from a world-class coach – someone that’s going to help YOU take your game to the next level.

But if you’re really looking to fast-track your progress, you may want to get in on IFASTU ELITE.

Here you’ll not only have access to the archives and monthly content drops like standard users, but you’ll also have direct access to both Bill and I each and every month.

Between two monthly Q&A calls, access to over 100 previously recorded Q&A call’s, and direct access to both us and our group of elite coaches via our private forum, this is a sure-fire way to get around the right people and level up FAST.
