NASA’s Astronomy Picture of the Day
2023 April 21 - Solar Eclipse from Western Australia
In today's image, we see the solar eclipse from April 20 of this year. this occurred when the Moon passed in front of the Sun and blocked out its light for about a minute. We will have a penumbral lunar eclipse in a couple of weeks, but since the Moon will not be in the umbra (darkest shadow region) of Earth, it will only appear a little fainter.
