NASA’s Astronomy Picture of the Day
2023 February 20 - NGC 1850: Not Found in the Milky Way
In today's image, we see NGC 1850, a star cluster in the Large Magellanic Cloud which is a satellite galaxy of our own Milky Way. It bears a resemblance to the globular clusters in our galaxy, but is far younger. No clusters like this have ever been noted within our Milky Way galaxy.
