NASA’s Astronomy Picture of the Day
2023 February 08 - Stellar Wind-Shaped Nebula RCW 58
In today's image, we see the nebula around a Worf-Rayet star. The Wolf-Rayet stars are the most massive and hottest stars in the universe and are the type that will end their lives as supernovae. Here we see a nebula of material expelled by the stellar wind and pushed out into space, energized by the ultraviolet radiation of the star.
