In today's image, we see the spiral galaxy known by the catalog designation of NGC 1097. The galaxy shows the distinct blue spiral arms and pink glow of hydrogen associated with recently formed stars in the spiral galaxy. There is also a companion galaxy present, appearing to be wrapped in the spiral arms of the larger galaxy. Finally, we see some tidal streams where previous small galaxies are disrupted and consumed by the larger galaxy.
