2025 August 22 - A Tale of Two Nebulae
In today's image, we see two nebulae: M57 also known as the Ring Nebula and IC 1296, a spiral galaxy - known as a spiral nebula until just about 100 years ago. While they appear roughly the same size on the sky, this is only coincidence, based on their actual sizes and distances.
