NASA’s Astronomy Picture of the Day
2024 September 07 - Small Moon Deimos
In today's image, we see the small moon of Mars, known as Deimos. This moon is likely a captured asteroid that happened to wander into the gravitational field of Mars and become captured. Deimos was not discovered until about 150 years ago.
