In today's image, we see an animation showing the orbit of comet Swift-Tuttle which is the comet responsible for the Perseid Meteor shower that occurs every year in mid-August. Here we can see how the stream of material comes very close to Earth's orbit, giving us the sower go meteor particles each year.
