NASA’s Astronomy Picture of the Day
2023 November 06 - Red Aurora over Italy
In today's image, we see the aurora as seen over Italy just a day ago. This is because of a coronal mass ejection which sent a large number of particle in Earth's direction. The intense storm was able to deform Earth's magnetic field which made the aurora visible at lower latitudes than is typical.
